On Saturday, January 23rd, Sampson had to be taken to the emergency vet clinic due to lethargy and trouble breathing. Normally, a happy, full of life dog, was barely responding to his name. Once in the parking lot, he collapsed and had to be stretchered inside for an emergency surgery or we would have lost him that day. After ultrasounds and x-rays, the vet found that Sampson had a bleeding mass on his spleen that required an emergency splenectomy. Due to the nature of the mass and the amount of blood Sampson lost before and during the procedure, he had had further complications. His red bloodcell count is low and his liver enzymes are high. His spleen has been sent for a biopsy to determine whether or not he had a malignant tumor known as a hemangiosarcoma. Sampson is fighting very hard right now and we can’t give up on him yet. The bills have begun to weigh on us, but we are willing to do what we can for our dog to get him home and comfortable. He has been my constant companion for eight years now. And my fiancée and I will be crushed to lose him this suddenly. Any amount helps no matter how big or small. Sampson is my best friend and we just want him home. Thank you.
