Hey, everyone! As most of you know, I have a dog named Sampson. In December 2023, Sampson was diagnosed with diabetes and it completely changed our lives. We are now on a 12-hour routine with him where he receives a glucose blood test, a meal, and insulin shot twice a day, every day. We were told at diagnosis that he would eventually lose his vision, and that day came in January of 2025 (this year). Sampson has been a trooper and adjusted well to not having his sight; however, about 3 weeks ago, I took him to an ophthalmologist to begin treatment for Dry Eye and Cataracts that had developed since January. Unfortunately, Sampson had a TERRIBLE reaction to the medication and his eyes deteriorated over the last week causing behavioral changes due to pain. We took him into the vet this morning and were told he had developed severe ulcers on both eyes and that they were at risk of rupture and needed to be removed TODAY.
Sampson is currently at the vet undergoing surgery for a double eye removal. We have thankfully gotten today's cost covered by Second Chances for Blind Dogs (God bless them and the work they do); however, we have a long road of recovery ahead of us. We will need to pay for follow-up appointments in the coming weeks to ensure no infection and to treat his pain at home.
I am requesting assistance this way as a last ditch effort and resort to ensure that my best friend, my soul dog, Sampson, can continue to have the best quality of life possible. ANYTHING HELPS - and I mean it! Thank you in advance if you can help financially, and if you can't, please send love and healing vibes/prayers Sampson's way.
