Help Sammy Weatherstone this Christmas
Donation protected
Sammy Weatherstone is an 11-year-old boy from the Adelaide Hills. He is loved by his friends, and described as creative, enthusiastic and full of joy.
Recently, a healthy, happy Sammy set off to Canberra with his mum and brother for a family holiday. On a stop-over in Echuca on the 11th of December, he fell suddenly ill and as a result he was airlifted to Melbourne. It was there that tests and scans were performed to reveal a tumour in his brain. The medical team in Melbourne operated on him within hours, and he has been receiving exceptional care. Sammy has since suffered some post-surgery complications, including double-vision and symptoms of tourettes as a result of the location of the tumour. Sammy has a long road ahead of him and tests later this week will give Sammy and his family a better idea of what’s to come.
The Weatherstone family are a much-loved part of the Adelaide Hills Hawk’s family with Sammy’s brother Flynn being part of the under 14’s team. Both Sammy and Flynn are also members of the Waldorf School family. As a community, we hope to be able to support them in Sammy’s ongoing treatment and recovery, which is currently estimated to be between 6 and 12 months.
For those that know the family, they have had a particularly difficult year, after the tragic loss of Sammy and Flynn’s father. This latest diagnosis is going to impact the family for a number of months to come, and this fundraising will help them to cope with the every day financial needs which come hand-in-hand with Sammy’s diagnosis. All of the proceeds from your donations will go to Sammy’s mum, Heleen Terwel, to assist her to care for her family in the upcoming months
