Sammie is my mother's beloved rescue pet, and at 10 1/2 years old, he has brought so much joy to our family. Recently, our lives were turned upside down when Sammie was shot. The injury left him with a shattered shoulder, and he needed emergency surgery and a blood transfusion to survive. He was rushed to VCA Veterinary Referral and Emergency Center, where the incredible team worked to save his life. Now, Sammie cannot walk on his own and will need assistance with basic care at home. The vet fears he may need amputation, which has added even more uncertainty and worry to this difficult time.
