Sammie is a 17-year-old cat who was put in a box and abandoned, left to face the world alone at a time when she needed comfort the most. Just over a week ago, I found her and brought her into my home, determined to show her what love truly means, no matter how much time she has left. When Sammie arrived, she was suffering from an upper respiratory infection, and her frail body weighed only 4 pounds. You can see her ribs and pelvic bones—she is so thin and fragile. This past Saturday night, her condition worsened, and we ended up at the emergency vet. She was diagnosed with pneumonia, and while the vets recommended hospitalization, I simply cannot afford the cost. Despite everything, Sammie is fighting to stay with us, and I am doing everything I can to help her heal and feel safe.
