Help Samiratu attend Carnegie Mellon University

My name is Samiratu Ntohsi, and I am Cameroonian, currently in my final year studying Computer Science at the African Leadership University, Rwanda. I recently got admitted for a Masters of Science in Engineering Artificial Intelligence at Carnegie Mellon University, Rwanda.
However, I am falling short of financial resources to cover my tuition fees for the program. This master’s degree is important to me because It will equip me with advanced knowledge and skills in Artificial Intelligence which I hope to apply in healthcare to improve the quality and affordability of services in Africa.
I desire to leverage Artificial Intelligence and machine learning applications like disease identification and diagnosis, outbreak prediction, medical image diagnosis, personalized medicine, crowdsourced data collection, and smart health records to ensure that quality and affordable healthcare services can be availed to people in the Africa continent. As a path to my quest, my final capstone project was focused on using machine learning to detect early risks of non-communicable diseases, which were featured under the capstone project highlights in the monthly Magazine for the Computer science department at my school.
Additionally, this advanced degree will empower me to achieve my ultimate goal: to inspire and empower more women to enter the STEM industry. There is a high gender imbalance within the industry in 2019. I was privileged to be awarded the Grace Hopper Celebration (the largest gathering of women in technology) Student Scholarship. The theme for GHC that year was ”We will/I will,” calling upon attendees to share the vision for the future regarding the state of women in the tech industry. My mission was to support and mentor youths in my country as much as possible to help them realize their full potential in STEM. I firmly believe that getting this degree will put me in an even better place to provide maximum assistance.
The cost of tuition at CMU-Africa is 32000 USD (living costs excluded). However, I choose to complete the program in 3 semesters; I have been fortunate to be awarded 21000 USD for the CIT Dean Fellowship Scholarship, leaving me with 3000 USD (1000 USD per semester) to complete my tuition.
I started this fundraising with the hope to raise the 3000 USD needed to complete my tuition at CMU. I am trying to get a part-time opportunity on/off-campus to cover my living expenses.
I will be super thankful for any of your donations towards this cause. I Understand the pandemic has made finances tight, but please know that even USD 1 helps me get closer to my goal. You can also contribute via Mobile Money on the number:+250 787 558 448; Name Samiratu Ntohsi.
