Hi there, my name is Laura and I tun Boomer's Feline Friends, a small rescue that advocates for the well being of homeless cats, by TNR-ing (trap, neuter, return) of ferals and rescuing friendlies.
I would like to introduce you all to one of our recent medical cases, Samira.
Samira is a lovely older lady in awful shape, that deteriorated rapidly after showing up in a backyard in Bensonhurst. The family living there kept her safe and valiantly looked for help for her. Every day that passed by that got them nowhere, they never lost hope tring to get her help. Large organizations with donations aplenty didn't respond. I have virtually no donations but I can't sleep at night knowing the pain and suffering these poor strays go through, the struggle they face even when healthy, let alone hurt and ill. Please help and spare whatever you can.
Samira has systemic calicivirus, a pretty severe case as she has a hard time keeping her balance and is limping heavily. She got immediate supportive care at the clinic and bloodwork showed increased BUN and globulin levels, most likely due to dehydration. She is in strict quarantine and receiving fluids, pureed food, antibiotics, probiotics and pain meds.

Once the virus will be under control, her mouth will need a second look as she most likely needs a dental but her mouth was one open wound due to the sores the calicivirus caused so that will be reassessed once she is healthy enough to get spayed.
