Hi, I’m Sami. Thank you for taking the time to read my story. I recently faced an unexpected and unjust job loss from a role I loved deeply. While this has been a challenging time, I’m determined to move forward with resilience and pursue the meaningful life I’ve always envisioned. Your support means the world to me as I take steps to rebuild and thrive.
I loved my job at Pressed, and I’m grateful for the empowerment and growth I experienced under Christina’s leadership, where I was encouraged to embrace my true self. However, when new ownership brought a new strategy, my role was no longer part of the plan. Sadly, that chapter ended, and I found myself unexpectedly without work. Now, in January, I’ve started part-time at Bandidas, a bakery I’ve long admired, but the job search has been tougher than expected. Despite sending out applications weekly, I’ve yet to secure another position.
I had some savings set aside (as much as one can manage while working as a barista), but the unexpected job loss and ongoing challenges have made it clear that I can’t do this alone. It’s time for me to ask my supportive community for help. To my Lakeland friends, many of you have heard parts of this story, and I’ve tried to stay positive and optimistic throughout. The truth is, I’m struggling, and I need a little help to get back on my feet.
The funds I’m asking for will go directly toward covering essential living expenses—things like rent ($400/month), utilities ($90/month), and groceries ($300/month)—while I continue my job search. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help keep me afloat during this uncertain time. Your support would mean the world to me, and I’m deeply grateful for any help you can offer.
