This fundraiser is to support our cousin, Samer his wife (Maysaa) and daughter (Sarah- pictured below), leave Gaza to Egypt. Since the start of the war they have been displaced multiple times, and separated from their families (parents, siblings, cousins..).

Samer & Maysaa's only child, Sarah was only one month old when the current war began, and has lived her whole life so far under the blight of this war. The nursery they had set-up and hoped for her to grow up in and the toys they hoped to see her play with were left behind, and eventually destroyed.

Samer and his family tried to return to their home in northern Gaza earlier this month (march of 2024) but found that the Israeli army had demolished their building, after setting fire to the entire building, leaving no inhabitable structure for them to return to. The nursery and toys that were purchased for Sarah were all gone.

After holding out hope of returning to their home for nearly 6 months, Samer and his family have made the difficult decision to leave Gaza and head to join some family in Egypt. Unfortunately the process of leaving Gaza to Egypt is not easy, and there are expensive "Processing fees" to allow people to leave; this does not of course include the costs of relocating to an entirely new country and starting their lives over from scratch.

The current goal for the fundraiser is to cover the cost of fees needed to cross the border into Egypt and join their family there; this is estimated to be approximately $20000 according to Samer (this includes some living expenses once they’ve crossed over into Egypt, and try to settle in until the war is over or a lasting ceasefire is established).

Once the funds are collected they will be sent to his family in Egypt to help arrange their crossing.
