Hi everyone,
My name is Nélida Samara, and I am a graduating senior at Wesleyan University in the class of 2023.
I am raising funds to help get my family to my graduation in May. I come from a low-income background, a farm-worker household, and am the first in my family to graduate from university. It is my greatest wish for my family to be able to attend my graduation, as I wouldn’t be able to do so without their immense sacrifices in coming to the U.S.
Unfortunately, airplane tickets are expensive, as is housing, food, and travel accommodations for a family of 5, so I’m reaching out to my community in hopes that you all may be able to help me.
Your support would allow me to get my father, my mother, my brother, and my little sister to Connecticut from California for the graduation weekend. My parents have not had the opportunity to travel outside of California since we moved to the U.S. in 2005. They made this move so my siblings and I could have an education. Now that I am graduating, I want to give back to them by bringing them to my graduation and your support will help me do so.
Please donate if you can and share with your own circles and communities!
Thank you, from the depths of my heart.
In gratitude,
Samara
