Help Samara Mello Rebuild After Domestic Violence

Hi guys, as some of you know from recent events, a friend, Samara Mello, was a victim of domestic violence and almost died. I’m putting this GoFundMe together to help her get back on her feet during this hard time and have any support she can to be able to take this case to court and make sure her husband pays for what he did.

Estou fazendo esse GoFundMe para ajudá-la a se recuperar deste momento difícil e obter todo o apoio possível para que ela possa levar este caso à justiça e garantir que o marido pague pelo que fez.

My name is Samara Mello, I am the wife of Godofredo Pepey and I am also a survivor of domestic violence.

I want to say what many will never say: domestic violence is real in the world of sports — and in the combat sports community, it’s still a taboo that few have the courage to speak about.

We can’t keep pretending this doesn’t exist. Domestic violence takes many forms: physical, emotional, mental, sexual, and financial — and none of them are acceptable.

Today, I am rebuilding my life and I am immensely grateful to have survived so that now I can make a difference in the lives of other women.

When violence happens inside the home, it doesn’t just destroy one family — it impacts the entire community. We need to stop treating this like it’s a secret.

I hope the authorities in Brazil and around the world understand that the blood on my face and body is on the hands of those who still see femicide as just a statistic — and do far too little to change that.

The next generations depend on the choices we make now.

This is not an issue to be “managed” — it must be abolished.

I am grateful for the fight community and for the support of organizations led by Rose Gracie, who takes this seriously and stands by those who feel there is no way out.

Meu nome é Samara Mello, sou esposa de Godofredo Pepey e também sou uma sobrevivente de violência doméstica.

Quero dizer o que muitos jamais dirão: a violência doméstica é real no mundo dos esportes — e na comunidade dos esportes de combate, ainda é um tabu sobre o qual poucos têm coragem de falar.

Não podemos continuar fingindo que isso não existe. A violência doméstica assume muitas formas: física, emocional, mental, sexual e financeira — e nenhuma delas é aceitável.

Hoje, estou reconstruindo minha vida e sou imensamente grata por ter sobrevivido para poder fazer a diferença na vida de outras mulheres.

Quando a violência acontece dentro de casa, ela não destrói apenas uma família — ela impacta toda a comunidade. Precisamos parar de tratar isso como um segredo.

Espero que as autoridades no Brasil e no mundo entendam que o sangue no meu rosto e no meu corpo está nas mãos daqueles que ainda veem o feminicídio como apenas uma estatística — e fazem muito pouco para mudar isso.

As próximas gerações dependem das escolhas que fizermos agora.

Este não é um problema a ser "administrado" — deve ser abolido.

Sou grata pela comunidade de luta e pelo apoio das organizações lideradas por Rose Gracie, que leva isso a sério e apoia aqueles que sentem que não há saída.
