Samar Mattar Ghaboun is a woman living in Gaza and trying to survive by living cooperatively in a group of 15 people. Between the families, there are three women, two men, and ten children, ages 5-18. Two of the children are orphans and Samar herself is a widow.
There is almost no opportunity for employment in Gaza, while the cost of everyday items has skyrocketed due to shortages caused by ongoing blockades and destruction. These families must turn to you for donations in order to survive.
These families have been through so much including several displacements, from Gaza City, to Rafah, to Deir al-Balah, to Gaza City, and back to Deir al-Balah. They have witnessed massacres and destruction. They have fled bombings to so and forced to find thousands of dollars in donations to flee and to rebuild each time. They have suffered from injury, disease, malnutrition, arthritis, and more.
Samar and her cooperative of families need ongoing support for essentials like food, water, shelter, and land rent which is the monthly rent owed to merchants for the land that a tent occupies. They also need help with necessities like medical care, household items, phone, and transportation.
My name is Christa Robinson, and I am a graduate student at Michigan State University. I have known Samar since the summer of 2024, and we have kept in close communication and talked extensively since that time. Your contributions will be used to fund basic necessities and essentials like food, water, medicine, shelter, winter items, household items, communication and transportation. I will send Samar your donations via PayPal.
Please follow Samar @samarsamar_159 on Instagram and this GoFundMe campaign for more updates. Be sure to check your subscription preferences and your junk mail filter to receive the updates. I will also be posting updates about Samar, the other families that I campaign for, and the ongoing conditions in Gaza at my Substack at christarobinson.substack.com. Please contact me if you have any questions.
Thank you for all you do for Samar and these families. Ongoing donations and fundraising on their behalf is always welcome and all efforts on their behalf are appreciated.
