Samantha Porras, my daughter, has been passionate about mountain biking since she was just 2 years old. Over the years, she has dedicated herself to the sport, racing in every event we could reach since she was 9. Her commitment has paid off—she's become well known in the bike community, made countless friends, and balanced her training with doing great in school. Now, as a USA Junior 17-18 female Mountain bike downhill racer, Samantha is facing her last year in this category. This year brings a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: her first and only chance to compete in the world cup races and go for the Junior world cup striped jersey. This is a dream she has worked so hard for, and she truly deserves it. However, this incredible opportunity comes with significant costs that are beyond what our family can manage alone. We have always tried to make things work by working extra and budgeting carefully, but the expenses for travel, race entry fees, equipment, and keeping her bike in top condition are more than we can handle without impacting our family's responsibilities at home. There are about 13 important races in places like Costa Rica, Brazil, Switzerland, Italy, Canada, Peru, New York, and North Carolina, and we want to hit at least 9 of those. We know this won't be easy for her with so many skilled, talented racers, but at least she will also have fun getting the experience and chance she will never forget. We are reaching out for help because we want to give Samantha the chance to chase her dream without sacrificing our family's well-being. The funds raised will go directly toward her travel expenses—airfare, shipping her bike, car rentals, hotels, race fees, and any mechanical support she might need along the way.
