Last March, my girlfriend Samantha got a headache that wouldn’t go away. It persisted for weeks until we worked our way through primary care physicians and neurologists to get to a neurosurgeon, where she was diagnosed with Chiari malformation. Chiari malformation is an awful brain condition caused by the swelling of the Cerebellum of her brain. The swelling creats dizziness and migraine-level headaches that occur on a daily basis, keeps her from being able to sleep through any night, and all of the symptoms have cause her to cut her hours at work because she isn’t able to handle a typical work week with her debilitating condition. The only thing we can do to make her feel better is to hopefully get her a Decompression Surgery which costs hundreds of thousands of dollars. Because of all of this going on, we are struggling to stay afloat with our bills and medical costs and we still have to get her an MRI which costs around $1500 as she does not have insurance, cannot afford Obamacare, doesnt qualify for Medicare/Medicaid and cant opt for employer sponsored insurance. We are looking to raise $2000 to help us afford her MRI and one more trip to the Neurosurgeon ($450). Any size donation will make a huge difference for us as were both only 21 years old and living on our own.
I have included more information on her condition in the pictures as well so you can find out more about what she’s dealing with!
