Help Samantha and Kids Stay by Damian's Side

My name is Joe Falco and I am writing this to ask for help for my son-in-law, Damian Dzitkowski. Damian is married to my oldest daughter Samantha and they have two small children, Zofia and Joey. I wish we didn’t need to ask but they have become desperate.

Damian is currently in the ICU at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis. He is intubated and sedated while the team here does what they can to help him. He is in liver failure and is currently waiting for a transplant of which we don’t know when one will come available. Unfortunately, this condition is also taking a toll on his other organs and the other night he took a turn for the worse and had to be intubated and sedated. Samantha was told to start notifying family to come see him. His heart was struggling and his breathing became labored. We don’t know if or when he may regain consciousness.

Although Damian is on state insurance and his medical bills are covered, the family's bills are adding up and money is tight. Right now, Samantha and her sister KaitLynn are the only income providers in the house. Damian has been sick for several months and has not been able to work. Samantha has been going back and forth to the hospital from Elkhart (2 hours one way). This leaves her sister at home to handle the kids and still work, which is also a struggle as she does not drive. The babysitter does overnights but that can become hard to do as well. Samantha will attempt to return to work but the unknown of Damian's health, it is hard to say how long she would need to be away from work again. With many missed days of work and the cost of babysitters and rides for her sister plus hotels, travel to and from the hospital and not to mention just the normal bills that they already had and that a single income had been lost due to this illness, money is starting to go backwards.

My wife and I have brought the kids to stay with us for a week but that is short term as well as we both work. I know this is asking a lot but like I said, we are desperate. The thought of losing Damian and having to raise two kids on her own is really taking a toll. Now the money issue is here and is just making it worse. Samantha is struggling mentally with the thought that she will have to leave and not be here if he takes another bad turn.

Your help will allow this family to be near their father/husband during his fight. It will allow Samantha to not worry if she has the money to travel, if there is money for the babysitter, groceries, bills, etc…. It will allow Samantha to not worry if her sister has a ride to work and appointments, I know its a lot to ask of everyone.
