My name is Samah Kawara, and I’m a doctor from Khan Younis, Gaza. Before the war, I was training to become an internal medicine specialist, fulfilling not only my dream but also the hopes my parents have always had for me—to become a doctor who can truly help our people. But now, everything has changed. The war has devastated our health system—many doctors have been killed or forced to flee, and the people of Gaza are left without the care they desperately need.
I’ve been working through this war, and every day I see the immense suffering caused by the lack of specialists, the lack of medicine, the lack of hope. It strikes me deeply, every time I encounter a patient we can’t fully help. I believe it’s my turn to do more—to be the doctor my people need, and to fulfill the dream that my parents have always held for me.
I have a vision to specialize in internal medicine and gastroenterology—fields where our suffering is most severe—and return to Gaza to offer the care that has been missing for too long. To do this, I need to take the OET, PLAB, and MRCP exams, and prepare in Egypt. But with the war taking away my job and income, I need help to cover the costs of the exams, travel, and living expenses in Egypt and Britain.
This is not just my journey—it’s about my parents' wishes for me, and it’s about helping my people rebuild and heal. I want to return stronger, more skilled, and ready to serve those who have already lost so much.
Please, if you can, help me take this step. Your support will not only change my life, but it will also help me change the lives of many others who are waiting for the care they deserve.
