Hello! My name is Sama, I am 21 years old and I attend UC Davis. I have been severely ill for over a year now, living with stomach paralysis, organ failure, dependence on nutritional life support, and several other conditions that cause extreme, intolerable full body pain. The consequences of severe malnutrition caused by stomach paralysis were catastrophic, damaging multiple organs and causing irreparable harm.
Recently my health has significantly deteriorated, leaving me with little to no quality of life. I face neuroimmune deterioration which has left me 100% bedridden. I am unable to move, speak, tolerate light, sound, or human touch. I lay here fully immobilized in indescribable full body pain 24 hours a day, that not even the strongest of painkillers relieve. Along with this I suffer from other daily symptoms such as intractable vomiting, dizziness, chronic migraines, vertigo. cognitive dysfunction, memory loss, temperature dysregulation, heart palpitations, and countless more. My pain and other symptoms get worse by the day. I lay trapped in this dark room and decaying body, hopeful for a procedure that could change everything.
There is a procedure that can end this suffering (described below) I have exhausted all my other treatment options up to now, with this procedure being my final option. I am extremely hopeful for the relief that this would bring and hopeful that you can help me.
MAID also known as Medical Assistance in Dying is a voluntary choice a patient makes to end their life as a means to end suffering and pain that has not responded to treatments. This is lawfully preformed in a medical setting after being approved by many doctors and specialists as the best solution. By exercising my right of autonomy, I hope to pass with dignity and peace, no longer suffering every second of every day. This decision was not made lightly, considering the level of suffering and pain I continue to endure as it worsens alongside no more treatment options. My family, friends, and medical team support my decision.
The funds would not be used to pay directly for the procedure itself, but rather its associated costs such as family prescence, traveling, lodging, adminstrative fees, caregiving, and end-of-life arrangements
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story. If you are unable to donate even keeping me in your thoughts means the world to me <3 Sharing my campaign is also extremely helpful. I remain hopeful that with your help I can receive this procedure and no longer suffer so severely.
