Hello, my name is Sam Wenger. I am a 42-year-old devoted husband and proud father of 4 wonderful children. I've never been someone to publicly put myself out there because I like to stay private, but it has been hard to watch my family struggle due to my health.
In early December of 2024, I was referred to an orthopedic surgeon due to uncontrollable foot pain and ankle instability. I was told that I needed surgery because I had a Lisfranc fracture as well as several torn, overstretched ligaments and tendons. Rods were to be inserted in all 5 toes because they became deformed due to me walking on it. A few days after seeing Ortho, I was having more pain and swelling in my leg. Breathing also became an issue. I was admitted to the hospital for multiple DVTs (clots) in my leg as well as PEs in both lungs. Now, 6 months later, my body has continued to deteriorate. I've had 3 hospital admissions and have seen doctors/specialists in the Pittsburgh area as well as the Cleveland Clinic. The clots are still in my leg. I am unable to walk due to my injured foot, but now I am having issues in all extremities. I am unable to stand or be upright for longer than about 5 minutes because my blood pressure and heart rate become dangerously high. It usually leads to syncope (passing out). Currently, the doctors still do not have a diagnosis. I use a wheelchair to get around and am unable to drive. My health has caused a major emotional and financial burden on my family. We are beyond grateful to those who have helped out already. If you feel led to contribute, my family will be grateful. 100% of monetary donations will be used for necessities such as groceries or utilities. If you are unable to donate, please keep our family in your prayers.
