Help Sam Walk Freely

On February 19 Sam sustained a tibial plateau fracture and had surgery that harvested bone from her hip to fill in her knee, along with a plate and screws. The surgery went well and the bone is healing however some complications in her recovery have resulted in her not being able to bend her knee and bear weight on her injured leg.

To avoid another painful surgery in which they cut and remove scar tissue and forcibly bend her leg under sedation, Sam is first trying an aggressive approach to Joint Rehab, working every day with a team of Physiotherapists for the next two months to get her leg to bend and bear weight.

Sam's emergency savings were used to cover her expenses in the four months post-surgery and she has used up her insurance benefits which cover physiotherapy visits.
She could use some help to support this unexpected next period of recovery.

Let's help get Sam back to the bird watching, plant drawing, tattooing, surfing, canoe racing person that we know and love.
