I am Sam and I am single widowed mother with 3 young sons. Some of you may know me, my boys and our story. Thank you for visiting my page.
A couple of years ago shortly after being widowed, having run my own small business for a number of years, I decided that it would be best for our family if I returned to full time employment and simplify my working life.
I got a great job and I was excited and inspired to be working with some of the best creative artists in the world in a job loved.
But things didn't turn out quite as well as I hoped and from early on I was bullied by my line Manager who then became my boss. She has bullied other staff for years and the organisation has an endemic culture of bullying at its core. It has impacted many people who have worked there but I the first person to have called out the bad behaviour. The immediate direct and worrying impact of this situation is that myself and my sons now find ourselves in a very precarious situation with our home which is now critical.
After being furloughed last year, I started a formal grievance process for the bullying and indirect sex discrimination I had experienced. It has since moved into full blown legal action. They tried to strike the case out but did not succeed - its been an intense year and a half. It is a David and Goliath scenario and I am fighting a large organisation who are playing very dirty.
The employment tribunal final hearing is on 21-24th June 2021. So far I have managed the situation mostly on my own with the support of some lovely friends and some pro bono legal input, but this final hurdle is tricky. I feel that I need the legal expertise and support of a barrister to handle the final hearing on my behalf so this journey concludes in the best way possible.
I have to confirm and pay for the barrister's services by Monday 14th June 2021 so he can start preparing for the case . The funds will pay for his fees. It is a very tight turnaround but it is possible.
I believe that every situation offers a gift and opportunity. Whilst I was in the midst of legal hell last year, I decided to retrain as a Life & Business Coach combining extensive life experience with many years in the fashion; advertising and media, so I could work with organisations, to create deep systemic positive change. I want to help staff feel valued, listened to, supported and given the opportunity to thrive. I hope that once change is made in businesses that need change, every member of staff can operate from their highest potential and see that what is possible for themselves and the companies they work in.
It is for this reason, I would like to pay forward your kind support as a thank you. I am in contact with Young Women's Trust and Women's Aid committing to 40 Life Coaching sessions to women who have suffered from bullying and abuse to help them rebuild their self worth, self belief and confidence as they create a new life for themselves.
I am so grateful that you have taken the time to read my story and if you have chosen to donate, I can't thank you enough. It will make a huge difference to me and it will make a difference to others who need support when I pay it forward.
If you have been impacted by bullying or you feel called, please feel free to share with your friends and contacts.
It does not come naturally to me to ask for help but this feels important on many levels. It is essentially about truth and treating people fairly and doing what is right.
Thank you so much
Sam
