This is Sam!
My name is Dustin and I am starting a gofundme page for my very good friend Sam. I've known Sam for the better part of 14 years now and for the first time in his life could use a helping hand. Sam is 34 years old and lives in Moncton, NB. For the last three years Sam has struggled, as we all do, with life's big problems. The guy has never asked for financial help with any situation. Sam is the determined sort of guy, and he has never shied away from responsibility. Sam is the sort of person who bears his burdens without complaint.
A couple years ago Sam decided to better himself. Sam started to take control of his life by working out, eating healthy, and attending college; by pursuing a degree in criminology and deciding the best best way to apply his degree he had a pointed conversation with one of his professors and was motivated to pursue a career in the RCMP.
Sam does work a full time job but paying for college and living expenses is difficult these days especially by yourself leaving his ability to save money limited at best. He has been making huge strides over the last three years passing all of his classes and shedding over 90 lbs to date. Sam's has done these things in pursuit of joining the RCMP and with hard work, determination, and a bit of luck, make detective.
Sam was dealt a crushing blow however, on January 4, 2022, when his RCMP application was rejected because he is unable to pass the eye exam. In order to be a successful candidate for the RCMP you must have 20/60 vision in each eye or 20/40 in one eye and up to 20/100 in the other eye without glasses or contact lenses. Sam has a stable prescription of 20/100 without glasses and 20/20 in both eyes with glasses or contact lenses. He has consulted with his optometrist and is a viable candidate for Lasik eye surgery which in the best case scenario would give him 20/20 vision in both eyes without glasses or contact lenses, allowing him to reapply to the RCMP in 6 months time.
This is the only option for Sam moving forward with his goal to join the RCMP. This has been Sam's driving force for the last three years and has kept him focused and determined to change his life. This news was hard news to take. I was motivated to started this gofundme page because I see this as a worthy cause. For Sam to undergo Lasik eye surgery, he can continue to strive for his goals. Sam is the first person to hold to door for someone, or help someone carry their groceries, he's the guy that would give you the last $5 dollars in his pocket if you needed it, he's the kind of guy who listens when you talk and will always take the time to offer advice or help work on a solution.
If we can help Sam achieve his goals I truly believe that he can make a difference in the world.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated, and sharing this page would help a lot. Thank you all for your considerations.
