Rebuilding from the Ashes: Helping Sam Krug Rebuild

It’s hard to find the right words when someone you care about loses everything in the blink of an eye. Our dear friend Sam Krug—a man who has already given so much to this country as a two-time Purple Heart recipient—is currently facing an unimaginable tragedy.

While Sam was away for work, a devastating fire tore through his home. In a single morning, he lost the life he had built. He returned to find his house gone and his belongings reduced to nothing more than the clothes on his back: a few shirts and a couple of pairs of pants.

But the most painful loss of all wasn't material. Sam’s partner, the person he cared for deeply and was building a life with, didn't make it out of the fire.

Why we’re reaching out:

Sam has spent his life standing up for others, but right now, he’s the one who needs a hand to hold. He is starting over from absolute zero—not just without a roof over his head, but while navigating a level of grief that is impossible to process alone.

We want to show Sam that he isn’t alone in this fight. We are raising funds to help him:

- Secure a safe place to stay while he figures out his next steps.

- Replace the basics (clothing, shoes, and daily essentials).

- Provide a cushion so he can focus on grieving and healing without the immediate stress of total financial ruin.
