A Lifetime of Building for Others
For over 50 years, our uncle, Sam Leyva, has been a man of calloused hands and a tireless spirit. A lifelong construction worker, Sam spent his days in the heat and the dust, building the homes and infrastructure that we all rely on. He never asked for much, and he never stopped working—because for Sam, hard work was the only way he knew how to provide.
The Unexpected Battle
At 72 years old, Sam should be enjoying a well-earned rest. Instead, he has been blindsided by a diagnosis of Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL). The doctors have given us the devastating news that Sam likely only has months left with us.
Because of the physical toll of the cancer and the intensity of his symptoms, Sam is no longer able to work. Like many who have spent their lives in manual labor, Sam does not have a pension or a "nest egg" to fall back on. He worked until he physically couldn't anymore, and now he is facing his final journey without the financial means to cover his basic needs.
How You Can Help
We are reaching out to friends, family, and the community to help Sam live out his remaining time with dignity and without the crushing weight of financial stress. Your donations will go directly toward:
Medical Bills: Covering the recent costs charged by MD Anderson/ Providence Hospital, additional blood transfusions, and of palliative care and medications to keep him comfortable.
Living Expenses: Ensuring his utilities, transportation costs, and groceries are covered since he can no longer earn a paycheck.
Funeral Expenses: Helping our family prepare for the inevitable so we can honor Sam’s life properly when the time comes.
No Contribution is Too Small
Sam has spent his life building foundations for others. Today, we are asking for your help to build a foundation of support for him. If you cannot donate, please consider sharing this page with your network. Every prayer, share, and dollar makes a profound difference in Sam’s quality of life during these final months.
Thank you for your kindness, your generosity, and for honoring a man who gave his all to his craft and his family.
With gratitude,
The Leyva Family
