Support Sam’s Second Fight Against Cancer

In 2016, Sam beat the hell out of testicular cancer after a long, hard fight. Last week, we got the news that the cancer decided to rear its ugly head again in the form of a tumor in his lungs and spine and a blood clot in his chest - so he has started the journey again. As anyone who’s seen a loved one diagnosed with cancer, they understand this process is not only physically demanding but also financially taxing.

The good news: Sam's physicians are optimistic that this cancer is treatable and (potentially) curable! The bad news: the cost to treat it will be a hard one to tackle. Chemotherapy bills alone can range anywhere from $10,000 to $200,000. We have set the current goal at $25,000 to help cover some medical bills and costs for Sam's comfort during treatment. We feel compelled to support Sam and his family financially so he can focus on what matters most - getting better and defeating this disease once and for all.

What sort of person is Sam? Friends and family know him for his steadfast perseverance and positivity despite any and all circumstances. He brightens any room he enters and is an intentional and devoted friend. In fact, just before Sam was informed of his second diagnosis, he traveled to a destination wedding to stand by his friend in the heat and humidity despite experiencing extreme back pain and swelling.

We didn’t know it at the time because Sam never complained. He never hesitated. Sam knew the implications of going on this trip, however, he continuously displayed his devotion to his friend without drawing attention to his new onset of symptoms. He was going to be there no matter what, to honor the relationships he brings so much love to. And that’s just the type of person Sam is. He will do anything for his loved ones, even if it hurts. Sam is an incredible friend, loving brother and son, the fun uncle and - on top of it all - a fighter. 

Now, it’s our turn to show up for Sam. Sam has already started chemotherapy and radiation therapy with hope of him entering a clinical trial. Unfortunately, insurance does not cover all treatment and medical expenses; therefore, we humbly request your support as he continues his fight with testicular cancer. Donations will go directly to Sam’s medical expenses and any other related expenses with his treatment and recovery. 

If donations received exceeds the amount that Sam needs to cover medical expenses, he has asked that all funds be redirected to someone in greater need (another reason he deserves everything). If that becomes the case, we will let all donors know where the funds will be going.
