For Sam Restifo and the two boys in his care - I’m Sam’s cousin, Julie Lay, and I’m asking for support for Sam and two boys who have come to depend on him for safety, stability, and care.

In February 2025, two boys, ages 14 and 12, were dropped off at Sam Restifo’s home by a woman he did not know. Since then, Sam has been caring for them and doing everything he can to give them a safe and stable place to live. The boys have very little family support, and they are deeply afraid of being separated and entering the system.

At the same time, Sam has been facing overwhelming challenges. The electric and water bills had already quickly piled up before Sam’s roommate passed away, leaving Sam unable to keep up with the cost. There has also been a legal battle involving the house that has been tied up in probate for the past two years. Sam has been trying to move the situation forward with his lawyer, but he has been left without clear direction and has struggled to get the guidance he needs. The outstanding water bill has since been rolled into the property taxes.

As a result, the home has been without running water, and the electricity was recently shut off, leaving Sam dependent on a generator. At the same time, he has been working to get the boys enrolled in school, but without the necessary guardianship paperwork, that process has been incredibly difficult. Despite repeated efforts to find help, the boys remain in an uncertain situation.
