For Sam Restifo and the two boys in his care - I am Sam's cousin Julie Lay
In February 2025, two boys, ages 14 and 12, were dropped off at Sam Restifo’s home by a woman he did not know. Since that day, Sam has been the one caring for them and trying to give them some sense of safety and stability. The boys have very little family support, and they are deeply afraid of being separated and falling into the system. At the same time, Sam is facing overwhelming challenges. The home has been without running water, and the electricity was recently shut off, leaving him to rely on a generator. He has also been trying to get the boys enrolled in school, but without the right guardianship paperwork, that process has been incredibly difficult. Even with repeated efforts to get help, the boys are still stuck in an uncertain situation.
Donations will help Sam continue covering the boys’ ongoing living expenses, support basic household needs, and possibly pay for a lawyer who can help him pursue the steps needed to give these boys more stability and a better chance at staying together. Because these needs continue week after week, recurring donations can make a real difference by helping Sam plan for consistent care, household essentials, transportation, and the support the boys need while he keeps showing up for them. One-time donations are also deeply appreciated and will help right away. Sam is a caring, empathetic person who has stepped up when no one else would. Please consider supporting Sam and these two boys so they can stay together and have a better chance at the safe, stable future they deserve.
