My name is Chelsea, and two of my very best friends in the world, Samantha Finnegan and Javier Benavidez, have a beautiful baby girl named Mariana. Mariana is normally a happy and healthy 9 month old little girl, but on 3/5/24 she was involved in an accident. This resulted in her being rushed to the emergency room who immediately knew she needed to be in a more specialized setting. Mariana was then transferred to DuPont Children’s Hospital where she was evaluated by their trauma team. Upon evaluation it showed Mariana had suffered 2 skull fractures and multiple lacerations. Doctors explained to mom and dad that one of these skull fractures caused a piece of her skull to separate and enter her brain space. Surgery was immediately scheduled to decompress this fracture and return the bone shard to the correct place in her skull. While surgery went amazing and was extremely successful, it is just the start of Mariana’s healing journey. Currently Mom Dad and Mariana are expected to be admitted to the hospital for 7 days at least. We’re asking for help to alleviate the stress of hospital bills and missed work for mom and dad. Any little bit would go a long way to support their family.
