Hi — I’m Sam.

I live with chronic CRPS and other neurological conditions that cause severe, daily pain and significantly affect my mobility. Pain is constant and exhausting, and it limits how far and how freely I can move — even though I do everything I can to stay independent.

When I was younger, I was never still. I surfed, snowboarded, mountain biked, swam in the sea, boxed, and played sport whenever I could. I loved movement. I loved momentum. I especially loved speed.

Now I rely mostly on a powerchair that’s limited to 4mph. I’m grateful to have it, but it doesn’t give me the freedom I miss. I also have a manual wheelchair, but I don’t have the strength to push it far or fast. There are places I haven’t been able to access in over ten years — woodland paths, beaches, uneven ground, even certain local areas.

My powerchair is sometimes too large for certain spaces, and it struggles on cobbles and rough terrain. When that happens, I’m limited again.

Despite disability support, I simply don’t have the funds for the equipment that would genuinely change what’s possible for me. I’ve looked into grants and other options, but haven’t been able to secure enough help.

There are days this all feels overwhelming. But I’m still trying to build a version of life that gives me movement, independence, and momentum again.

Right now, I’m raising funds for two pieces of equipment that would transform my mobility:

Triride Power HP16 — £5,200

This power assist system attaches to my manual wheelchair, allowing me to travel further, handle hills, reduce strain, and move with more energy and independence.

Triride Trekking Multi Traction System — £5,450

This system improves traction on uneven ground — including grass, gravel, woodland paths, and sand. Combined with the power unit, it would allow me to access places that have been out of reach for over a decade.

Together, these would help me:

• Reduce pain and flare-ups

• Stay active and connected

• Maintain independence and dignity

• Keep up at walking speed instead of feeling left behind

• Reconnect with outdoor spaces I’ve deeply missed

Total goal: £10,650

This equipment isn’t about luxury. It’s about participation. It’s about not being capped at 4mph when the world moves faster than that.
