Donation protected
The go fund me has changed, All donations will now go towards hospital expenses, medication, travel expenses and anything else that comes are way. I’m sorry for the long post, but I wanted to update everyone on Sam, he has been sent to several specialist and has had a lot of test. He had a cardiac catheterization done in February 2025 and they found no blockages which was a good thing, but still doesn’t explain the heart failure. He had other echo done to see if his heart function was better since his hospital stay and it did go from 15% to 20% which again was a good thing so even though we knew his heart was still weak it was an relief it went up and not down. Then we had an appointment with the heart surgeon at Med Star hospital and he ordered a Cardiac MRI and also sent over the order to have the ICD placed so he can get rid of the life vest. He also advised Sam to go see an Advanced heart failure doctor to determine what else can be done. In the meantime his surgery was scheduled for March 25 to have the ICD placed. We went March 10th and met Dr. Rodrigo and she was amazing. She provided us with a lot of information and ordered other test and blood work. Sam had his cardiac MRI completed on March 13th and the doctor ordered a right heart catheterization to be completed. The cardiac MRI came back with the left ventricle ejection fraction as 17% (normal for men is 55-75%). The left ventricle is dilated and has reduced function. They also noted a small thrombus/clot in the left ventricle apex. The right ventricle is also dilated and has reduced function. So here we are today he had his cardiac catheterization yesterday and the results were not good at all so he was admitted onto the advanced heart failure floor because the test showed that his right heart ventricle is not functioning and his blood is not flowing back into his body like it should and it has caused his kidneys to fail and his heart is just not strong enough so the doctor told us that Sam needs a heart transplant. In the meantime they have started the work up on him to make sure he is able to get a new heart and they have started him on an IV medication to help his heart pump the blood back out to hopefully help his kidneys and they have drawn more blood to make sure no other organ is failing. He now has to get an Lavd ( heart pump)placed until a new heart comes available.
