On July 12th, our friend Sam Francis was violently assaulted and robbed in the River North neighborhood of Chicago. He was rushed to the hospital with a concussion and a brain bleed, requiring three CT scans in less than 24 hours. While he’s been released from the hospital, the effects of the attack are still with him every day.
Sam now suffers from persistent dizziness, extreme fatigue, and debilitating migraines. Simple daily tasks leave him drained, and he’s currently unable to work full-time as he slowly recovers. The physical toll is heavy—and so is the financial one.
On top of everything, just months before the assault, Sam’s health insurance premium skyrocketed from $300 to $900 a month, forcing him to cancel his coverage. That has left him to shoulder the full cost of his emergency care and ongoing treatment completely out-of-pocket.
If you know Sam, you know he’s the kind of person who goes out of his way to help others. His kindness, generosity, and willingness to support those around him are just a few of the things people love most about him. Now it's our turn to be there for him.
We’re asking for your help to ease the financial burden of medical expenses and lost income so that Sam can focus fully on healing—physically, emotionally, and mentally.
Every donation, big or small, makes a difference. If you’re not able to give, sharing this page with your friends and community would mean a lot.
Let’s rally around Sam, just like he’s always done for so many of us. Thank you for your love and support.
