My name is Joe Atherton and I’m here to try and help my friend and Tag Team partner, Sam Fisher.

Sam has a condition called Spinal Muscular Atrophy and is confined to a wheelchair. His my passion is pro wrestling, specifically deathmatch wrestling.

Sam is a staple of the British indie death match scene and travels up and down the U.K. to watch events in Scotland, Derby, Leeds, Sheffield - you name it, Sam goes there.

We were both supposed to go to this years GCW Tournament of Survival in Atlantic City, New Jersey. It’s all he’s been talking about for months.

On the day of our flight he wasn’t provided with a hoist which was promised and was in constant pain when they moved him by hand on to the plane. For our connection to Philadelphia he was also promised a hoist, which the airport didn’t provide and getting him on board was too painful. A stay over night in the airport hotel later we were due to fly again. The hoist was provided and we were all set to go…until it broke and Sam fell.

He had saved years for this holiday of a life time and I feel awful going without him. But that’s the type of guy Sam is. Selfless to a fault. Always thinking of others even at his lowest ebb.

Sam has lost a lot of money of plane tickets and hotel rooms, as well as the money on his tickets to 2 wrestling shows. It’d be great if the deathmatch and wrestling community as a whole could do something nice for such a great guy who’s had his dream trip cruelly taken away from him.
