Dear Friends and Family,
I’m creating this GoFundMe on behalf of my beloved cousin, Samantha Gil.
Sam, a recent Canon-Mac graduate and dedicated aviation student at Kent State University, has always been perfectly healthy. But at the end of March 2025, she suddenly developed high fevers and severe stomach pain. Her mom, Andrea, insisted she get checked again when doctors initially thought Sam had the flu. Sam’s whole world turned upside down when scans revealed a massive tumor growing inside her left ovary. She underwent emergency surgery on April 8th.
But that was only the beginning. The tumor was cancerous and had already spread to her right hip and left femur. Sam has been diagnosed with Stage IV germ cell cancer. Still healing from surgery, she started her first round of chemotherapy on May 15th.
This news has been devastating to the family, but they are faithfully doing everything to help Sam fight this battle. Her mom, a surgical technologist, had to quit one of two jobs and now works one day a week at Allegheny General Hospital. She is Sam’s primary caregiver, supporting Sam battle weakness, nerve damage, hair loss and the brutal side effects of treatment. Her father, Victor Hugo, works at Valley Brook Country Club and takes care of Sam on his only day off. Sam’s sister Amanda, a full-time student at Chatham University, helps as much as she can.
Sam is a warrior, facing cancer with strength and resilience. For those who know her, you already know that she is a real one. She’s always caring for those around her. Now I humbly ask that we support her and her family. Funds raised will go directly towards urgent living expenses, mounting medical bills, and life-long medication.
We don’t know how long this nightmare will last but have faith Sam will fully recover. Your unconditional support means everything, and we ask that you please share this page and keep Sam and her family in your prayers.
Thank you,
Alondra
