Help Sam Black Queer Nonbinary Person Move
Donation protected
Hello all! My name is Sam! I am a black, queer, non-binary person from NYC. I was displaced from my home when my family was forced to move to North Carolina because of my dad's job. I got a job with low pay (7.50/hr), and intended to save over a few months to move back. I made plans to sign a lease in August so that I could go back home, and figured I would have enough time to save. Within about 3 months of me being in North Carolina, COVID-19 struck and everything shut down. I was out of a job, and out of a plan. Since things have reopened I have returned to working, including getting a SECOND job (with the same low pay) to try and raise the money for my move quicker. Within about a month, someone at one of my jobs was exposed to the virus because of someone they live with. She was only out of work for about a week and a half, and then she was allowed back without being tested for COVID-19. My job hasn't taken any precautions or closed the store. So I am now relying on only one of my low paying jobs because I fear for my safety, and the safety of my family at my other one. In addition to this, my neighbors who live across the street from us have a large Trump 2020 flag flying on a flagpole in front of their house. I feel unsafe everywhere I go, and I live in a household where I am misunderstood and demonized for speaking up on things that are important. I have less than 2 weeks to raise the money for my move, or I will be unfortunately stuck where I am, worried for my safety as well as my mental health. I would be endlessly grateful for any and all donations made towards my cause. Getting out will guarantee my safety as well as a much better home environment where I will be with other queer poc whom I don't have to consistently explain myself to. Please, if you are able to, I would really appreciate the help. Thank you so much for reading and donating!!!
