Late last year, I was halfway through the fire academy when I tore my ACL. One moment I was with my class, and the next I was being pulled out of the academy I had worked to get into. The injury didn’t just take me out physically — it set me back emotionally and financially. I had to undergo surgery, months of rehab, and the difficult reality of watching my classmates graduate without me. After months of rebuilding myself, learning to walk, run, and train again, I was cleared to return — and I made the decision to start the academy over from the beginning. Not because it was easy, but because this is what I’m meant to do. I’m committed to finishing what I started.
Becoming a firefighter has always been more than a career goal for me — it’s a calling. I’ve been accepted into the fire academy and I am fully committed to the training. The physical, mental, and emotional commitment is intense, but I’m giving it everything because this is the life I want to build — one where I can make a real difference. That’s why I’m asking for support. Every contribution directly helps me complete the academy and earn the certification I need to serve as a firefighter.
This isn’t easy for me to ask. I’m used to being the one who figures things out on my own. But I also know that big goals sometimes require a team behind you. If you choose to support me, please know that I carry that with me — into every drill, every exam, every early morning, and eventually, into every call I respond to as a firefighter. You’re not just helping me pay for school — you’re helping me step into a career dedicated to protecting lives and giving back to the community. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for believing in my journey. — Sam
