We are fundraising for our beautiful best friend Sam and her 23 month old son Hunter, who have been the victims of Domestic Violence.  

We need to help put a roof over their heads and assist them with living expenses as they’re being forced to return to Australia by a broken system. Just over a year ago Sam and her then 8mth old baby Hunter escaped an abusive relationship in Melbourne. With the assistance of the Salvation Army they were able to fly home to her family in NZ.
There, she had the support she needed to raise her son and start to repair herself from the abuse she endured. Sam and Hunter had been in NZ 8 days short of a year when Sam’s ex filed a case in the Family Court of NZ petitioning for Hunter to be returned to Australia. Hunter in his 8 months of life back then was subjected to a toxic environment in which Sam suffered significant psychological, emotional, and financial abuse.

Unfortunately, the NZ Family Court has ruled against Sam’s defence and Hunter must return to Australia under the auspices of the Hague Convention. Whether Sam goes back to Australia with her son the courts don’t care as long as Hunter goes back. **  Where is the justice in that?!  Sam is now being forced to return to Australia where she has no state or government financial support and no family.
We only ask that you might be able to help Sammie financially to put a roof over her and Hunter’s heads in order to keep them safe and for legal fees to seek a return back home to New Zealand in the Australian Family Courts.
