Help Ali and his family escape Bangladesh
Tax deductible
Can you please help my student escape persecution in Bangladesh?
Ali (real name now) is a social worker who reported sexual abuse by the head of a Madras. Instead of arresting the perpetrator, the police persecuted Ali for speaking negatively about a muslim scholar. Ali's community accused him of not being Muslim, and he was beaten and sent to the hospital. He feared for his life (see a similar news article of a 19 year old girl burned for reporting rape: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Nusrat_Jahan_Rafi).
Ali and his family have escaped Bangladesh, and Ali is working 14 hours a day and living in a hotel in Calcutta. They would like to be able to pay a downpayment for an apartment, so they can move out of the hotel. Can you please help them today?
Feel free to call Rabbi David (contact info at kolhalevpbc.org) for more details
