This is a love story.
Sally and Dan love each other in a way that is absolutely breathtaking to behold. From their early dating life, to their beautiful wedding, to the probably thousands of friends they’ve made as they moved across the country twice, and then to Denmark: Sally and Dan’s love is the kind of love you want for your best friend, for your sister, for yourself. They are two strong, remarkable humans on their own, and they are something beyond that together.
Sally and Dan are blessed with two beautiful children: Liam, 9, and Alexandra, 2. Sally and Dan have fought for the opportunity to have the family they imagined, and their fierce love for their kids shows in their actions and in their words - they are thoughtful, loving, intelligent parents.

Finally, we love Sally and Dan. Their friend groups span far and wide, from Atlanta to Santa Monica to Sunnyvale to Rochester to Copenhagen. Everywhere they go they find and connect people to one another, creating not only friends for themselves, but groups of people whose connections endure beyond their presence. Sally and Dan’s ability to create community is a thing to behold. Their devotion to their friends burns bright, and our devotion to them is equally strong.

First and foremost, this is a love story. But no love story is ever without some tragedy, and that is why you’re reading this. Two years ago, during their daughter’s birth, Sally had a stroke from preeclampsia. Now, she’s developed post-stroke epilepsy. Needless to say, Sally needs some time to participate in stroke rehabilitation therapies and adjust to epilepsy medication while still having some energy for her family. Dan, who has been bearing the most of the care-giving duties, needs a chance to take a break.
We are helping Sally and Dan to raise money to make ends meet while Sally completes her therapies and adjusts to her new medication. They estimate that they will need 3-4 months of leeway before Sally can return to work. Many of us are far from our friends now, isolated by time, distance, and world events - but we’re hoping that you will take this opportunity to support Dan and Sally from however far away you may be.
