Salem is my one-year-old kitty, and I’ve loved him since he was just a week old. I rescued him and his two brothers, and he’s always been such a sweet boy. On Saturday, I noticed something wasn’t right with Salem, so I rushed him to the ER. It turned out he had a blockage and was in severe pain. The vets performed emergency surgery to unblock him, but crystals kept getting stuck in his catheter, so he needed a second surgery just 11 hours later.

Salem is still in the hospital, and the costs are adding up quickly. I can’t afford to keep him in the hospital much longer, but he’s still fighting a fever and now has a secondary infection, so they’ve started him on antibiotics. Every day, Salem is transferred from a daytime hospital to a nighttime hospital, and it’s getting really expensive. My baby is so sad and in pain, and I know all he wants is to come home. All the techs call him such a sweet boy, and he’s just a baby who deserves a chance to heal.

Salem was diagnosed with FLUTD, something I didn’t know about until now. I wish I could have known about it before it happened to my boy, but I’m learning as we go.
