My name is Chris Wimer and I live in NY. I’m raising funds to help my dearest friend, Saleh Ziara, and his family escape the genocide unfolding in Gaza. Funds will be used to feed his family and any necessities needed to survive in the ongoing genocide.
Saleh is 21 years old and currently living in a tent in Gaza with six members of his family, including children who have lost their parents. They’ve survived near-death experiences, endured bombings, starvation, dehydration, and the trauma of witnessing their loved ones slaughtered. Their home has been reduced to rubble, and they now live without shelter, food, medicine, or safety.
Saleh also volunteers and provides food and water for families in Gaza (which you can see in the pictures and video). Because of the Israeli government's atrocious acts, food and water are scarce and the only way for them to not starve to death is through donations.
This crisis is not new — it is the result of generations of systematic oppression and displacement. What we are witnessing today is a continuation of a long-standing plan to ethnically cleanse the Palestinian people. This didn’t begin on October 7, 2023. If you’re interested in understanding more, I’d be happy to recommend books or articles that detail this painful history.
Right now, Saleh’s only hope is to evacuate his family through the land border between Gaza and Egypt. But the cost of evacuation is devastatingly high — and they have lost everything. There is no income, no home, and no way out without your help.
I’ve never seen anyone fight harder to protect the ones they love. Saleh has shown strength beyond words, but strength alone can’t buy safe passage. Every day they stay in Gaza is a gamble with death. The bombings are constant. Food and clean water are nearly nonexistent. Illnesses go untreated. Trauma deepens with each passing moment.
Please, help me help them. Your donation could be the reason this family survives. Every dollar brings them closer to safety. Every share spreads awareness. Every act of kindness matters more than you can imagine.
From the depths of my heart, thank you.
