Hello,
The Organizer:
My name is M. and I am an activist from California, USA. With the help of my partner, journalist Trinidad Nicole, I have been assisting people in Ga/za who desperately need help. Trinidad and I are close friends with the Beneficiary for this campaign. They met when Trinidad interviewed the Beneficiary's father, the painter Basel El Maqousi, for a news article and comic that will be published in the upcoming book Cartoonists for Pal/estine. We are currently trying to save money to evacuate his family who is currently stuck inside of the siege. We have been transferring funds to both Salah and Basel since February of this year so that they could have food, shelter, and access to supplies. We care very much for this family. Please read more about how you can help real people right away. Thank you for **sharing** this campaign with at least two people you love.
The Beneficiary:
I am Salah Basel Al Maqousi from the Gaza Strip, father of a child named Maryam. I miss her very much and I hope to be reunited with her. I was working in a Palmyra restaurant in the Strip. I had a small house where my family and I lived it was destroyed because of the war. I had ambitions to be an employer, and the war destroyed all my dreams and ambitions, and I am now stuck in Egypt. I came to Egypt a week before the war for a quick visit. I could not return. I created a donation campaign to restore my life and my family's life again and we reunited until we start a new life outside the Gaza Strip. I ask you with a broken and sad heart, and shyness that fills me. Your help makes a big difference in my life and the lives of my family, and my father draws a smile on the children.
In this campaign are videos and pictures of Salah's family, including his dear father:
These precious funds will be used immediately to provide food and supplies to Basel and the rest of their family inside of Ga/za as well as to provide for Salah who is stranded in Egypt, separated from everyone he loves. Our goal is $50,000 to cover cost of evacuation into Egypt when the border crossing opens again and for daily needs. Thank you for your kindness.
Below are artworks by Basel which he made while inside of the current siege:
