Hello! I’ll try to keep this short, but also there’s a lot going on so I’m sorry if this gets too long.
I was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy in late January, which had caused my heart to fail almost 100%. Obviously, I couldn’t work while I was recovering and I was on Statutory Sick Pay, so even with help from my family I’ve ended up with some credit card debt from paying rent/bills and for basic amenities (and also new clothes, as all of my clothes were 2+ sizes too big after losing around 9kg of fluid that had accumulated due to my heart failing). Predictably the DWP were useless, and declared me unemployed because they didn’t register any of my earnings for February - resulting in them overpaying me for February into March and then leaving me with no money or support for March into April. So that’s another very frustrating hit to my very precarious finances.
I’m back at work now and trying my best to carry on as normal but also I nearly died and it’s going to be a long time until I’m completely okay again, if ever, which isn’t a fun thing to contend with. I’m on so much medication to try and manage all of these problems, and it’s definitely helping, but it’s also making me dizzy and woozy because it’s all designed to lower my pulse rate and my blood pressure. Obviously I’d rather be dizzy than dead, but it still makes things harder than I’d like them to be and occasionally means I have to take sick days which lowers my income again.
So, basically, if you’re able to donate anything to help me keep my head above water I’d really appreciate it. I know we’re all struggling with money at the minute but this whole ‘almost dying’ thing has put me into the ‘struggling more than usual’ category, and I’d love to not be in that position.
