I am creating a GoFundMe medical page for a coworker who urgently needs assistance to take her daughter off the island. Our goal is to raise as much money as possible to cover her medical expenses, and we would greatly appreciate any contribution, even if it's just a dollar or a prayer for this family.
Thank you for taking the time to read their story below and for being a part of this medical journey.
My name is Jenn Dizon, and I am reaching out with a mother’s heart to ask for your prayers and support for my youngest daughter, Saiyan Aries Escobar Dizon.
Over the past month, our family has been on an emotional roller coaster trying to understand why Saiyan has been in so much pain. She began complaining of persistent abdominal pain, and we made several visits to her pediatrician and the emergency room. At different times, she was diagnosed with gastroenteritis, constipation, and a urinary tract infection. We followed every recommendation, gave her the prescribed medications, and held onto hope that she would finally start feeling like herself again.
But she didn’t.
As a mother, watching your child continue to hurt while not having answers is one of the most helpless feelings in the world. I couldn’t ignore the feeling that something more was going on, so I asked her pediatrician if we could do an abdominal ultrasound.
The ultrasound revealed that Saiyan has Hepatomegaly (an enlarged liver). While we were relieved to finally have a direction, our hearts also filled with worry because we still don’t know what is causing it.
Unfortunately, Guam does not have a pediatric gastroenterology specialist who can properly evaluate and treat her condition. Because of this, Saiyan has been referred to St. Luke’s Medical Center in Global City, Philippines, where she can be seen by a Pediatric Gastroenterologist and undergo the additional testing needed to find answers and begin the appropriate treatment.
As parents, we would do anything to make sure our daughter receives the care she needs. Our priority is simply getting her to the specialists who can help her. Traveling off-island for medical care, however, comes with expenses that are difficult for our family to manage alone, including airfare, lodging, transportation, medical co-pays, and any additional testing or treatment she may need.
If you feel led to support Saiyan’s journey, whether through a donation, sharing our fundraiser, or simply keeping her in your prayers, we would be deeply grateful. Every act of kindness, no matter how small, reminds us that we are not walking this road alone.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story and for keeping Saiyan in your thoughts. We are praying for answers, healing, and brighter days ahead. Your love, prayers, and encouragement mean more to our family than words can express.
Si Yu’os Ma’åse’ and God bless you all.
