Help Saisha & Special Needs Children after Propane Explosion

Donation protected

Hello, my name is Miranda Moreno-Wilson, and I am reaching out to you with a plea for help on behalf of Saisha Massey, my best friend of over 25+ years. She was gravely injured in a propane misfire earlier this week . Saisha is a single mother to four beautiful daughters, two of them are non-verbal with Special Needs (Autism), all under the age of 16. Saisha became the sole/primary custodial parent of her girls in 2019 as their father was in a near fatal car accident, losing both of his legs and therefore paraplegic.

Unfortunately, their lives were forever changed again recently when Saisha was involved in a horrific propane fueled misfire which has landed her in the Trauma/Burn Unit at the Orlando Hospital receiving around the clock quality care. While preparing a barbecue for a family gathering, the propane grill misfired and suddenly exploded in Saisha’s face, hair and all over her body. This left her with first, second and third degree burns on her face, hair, arms, hands and feet. The explosion was so massive that her neighbors and onlookers were surprised that she lived through it with the assistance of the community.

Though Saisha has been hospitalized in the Burn/Trauma Unit for a week now and has her first surgery scheduled for July 30, 2024 (and another upcoming surgery scheduled the following months ahead), the recovery process is expected to take months and possibly even years, during which Saisha will be unable to work. This has left all of us as her friends and family devastated, not only because of the extensive physical pain and the long road to recovery ahead but also because of the direct impact it will have on her ability to care for her family as well as her beloved clients/couples for her 5 Star Award Winning (and A+ Rated with the Better Business Bureau) beloved Wedding Bakery Business, Seventeen and Co.

Baking has always been Saisha’s passion and she has turned that love into a small business specializing in wedding cakes in the Central Florida area. She has been bringing a smile to couple's faces’ on their most important day which has been incredibly fulfilling for Saisha. Her small business was just starting to thrive in the past 12 months receiving business referrals from Major companies like Marriott Hotels and several high end restaurants in the Orlando area before this unfortunate circumstance. Instead of focusing on her treatment plan with the physicians and therapists in the Burn/Trauma Unit, Saisha was calling around town (with help) when she was under morphine, instead of using that recovery time to rest, trying to locate new cake artists for two weddings she was booked for this past weekend and paid to ensure the couple didn’t feel her physical absence against her medical teams advice. All of this shows how caring and selfless Saisha is.

As a single mother and a business owner, Saisha’s primary concern is providing care for her daughters and ensuring they have the love, support, and stability they need. This unfortunate incident has created significant physical, emotional and financial challenges and I think a lot of us are deeply concerned about her and her special needs children. Since their father’s car accident, their 2 special needs daughters rely on Saisha 100% for everything whereas they were co-parenting before he became a paraplegic. And while this recovery process will hinder her ability to meet their physical needs, we want to make sure she and the children are set up in a way that supports them financially as well as her being emotionally present and supportive.

I am humbly asking for your support. Even a donation as small as $1 can go a long way during this difficult time to help Saisha, a person who constantly gives and pours into others, cover current and upcoming medical expenses, support her daughters, keep their household expenses afloat so that Saisha can focus on recovery.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart and for any support you can provide. Those who are not able to support financially, prayers are definitely needed and appreciated. Your kindness means more to me and Saisha’s family than words can express.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Miranda Moreno-Wilson
