Saige is my rescue baby, and she means the world to me. Anyone who meets her knows what a sweetheart she is—she has a gentle spirit that touches everyone around her. Seeing her so sick has been heartbreaking, and I feel so helpless not knowing what each day will bring.
It all started Tuesday night when Saige began feeling unwell. By Wednesday, we were at the animal hospital. At first, the vets thought it was just an infection, but as the days went by, her condition only got worse. She was diagnosed with pneumonia and had to undergo surgery because her x-rays showed a possible GDV, which is when the stomach flips. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case—there was no obstruction or foreign object.
Now, Saige is in emergency care for pneumonia. She’s undergoing more tests and x-rays to check on her esophagus, since she’s been gagging and making honking noises. I don’t know how much longer she’ll need this level of care, but the vet bills are climbing fast. I want to give Saige every chance to recover, and I don’t want to turn her down for any care she needs. I’m reaching out for help from my peers and family. Any support you can give means the world to us. Thank you for helping Saige get the care she deserves.
