Hi everyone, Greetings from Tanzania.

I am Barnabas James.

I met SAID HASSAN MKULUMWILE, 51-years old man, during my work as a Research Assistant in the Star-home project, while conducting field activities in 2021, Mtwara Rural at LIKONDE village within Mkunwa ward, where Said and his family live.

His children were among the participants in the project, and that is how we came to know each other.

During that time, Said Hassan Mkulumwile, a husband and loving father of 3 children who depended on him in everyday life, was taking care of his family for everything through his daily economic activities such as Farming, small poultry keeping, and burning of charcoal, which he sells at restaurants and people's homes.

In 2023 January, he started to develop Health challenges in both eyes, which forced him to attend healthcare facilities for diagnosis and treatment. Said referred from various levels of healthcare facilities, Dispensaries -Mkunwa, Healthcare center- Mikindani, Referral hospitals, where all of these spent money and used his ICHF- National health insurance card.

Despite the early measures he took, his problem persists; the national health insurance card he used for treatment finally failed to support him anymore, although he tried to seek treatment support, but the costs of healthcare have been beyond his health insurance card, and the family can not afford it. 

Now, what began as blurred vision slowly turned into a painful struggle[ASTIGMATISM] that has taken away his ability to work and support his family.

Today, Said's greatest hope is simple; To receive proper medical treatment so he can clearly see again. Return to work and care for his family with special dignity.
