My name is Sage Chang. I do not have a trust fund. I am 24 years old, and I made the mistake of not having car insurance. I had already made the decision to move to New York and my insurance policy was cancelled just 11 days prior to the accident. Because of the decision to not insure my car, I may not be able to pay my 3 month sublease that I already signed onto in New York.

For over a decade, my home/living/family situation has been unhealthy. I lacked strong role models for commitment, patience, empathy, and trust. Because my parents stayed together, my sister and I both bore the developmental brunt of two parents who constantly fight in our lives.

It is the constant crossing of my personal boundaries, disregard for my needs, the hoarding, paranoia, and constant verbal abuse that interferes with my wellbeing and development as someone who is seeking a career in child development. These living conditions are the reasons why I recently made the decision to move (at least for the summer).

I can no longer bear living at a dirty hoarder’s house with neglectful people. I know I will always love and care about them, but I need space to grow and learn more about myself.

Please help me afford food and housing for three months in New York. I will pay out of pocket, with my savings, for the damage I caused to another driver.
