Help Sage get the life saving Heart Surgery she needs!

Hi my name is Amy Kaufman our family pet, Sage June Kaufman is literally the heart of our family. Sage was the runt of her litter and very shy, until she saw us. She picked us. The moment we saw her soulful brown eyes we knew our lives we knew we would never be the same. Sage has been there at our wedding in 2015 and with the birth of our son in 2017. Sage quickly took on the motherly role to our son Oliver often resting her head on his while he slept.
But Sage’s favorite thing in the whole world is the running on the beach looking for shells often as big as her head.
When we travel, we take Sage with us as she is prone to lethargy and melancholy if we don’t. Sage drove across country with us last summer and saw both Niagra Falls and the Grand Canyon.
In the fall at a routine EKG after being diagnosed 2 years ago with a non threatening “Musical Murmer,” Sage was diagnosed with a grade C Congestive Heart Mitral Valve disease.
Our hearts sank when we were told life expectancy for Sage is suddenly cut short for 6 months to a year.
We took Sage to a cardiologist who specializes in Cavalier King Charles Spaniels who unfortunately are born with the predisposition for this awful disease.
The light at the end of this tunnel for Sage is if we can afford it, there are 3 places in the world that specialize in this life saving surgery for these animals. Japan, London and Florida (but Florida is the most expensive and has the lowest percentage of survival after surgery) so we investigated the royal veterinary college in London for Sage and even though financially, we have no business even discussing it we just knew that we had to try to give our baby a chance to survive. We were given a surgery date of July 10 soon after given the state Sage was hospitalized for two days with congestive heart failure, and brought back to life with oxygen and Lasix to stop the blood from clogging into her lungs. It’s very painful to watch this otherwise very healthy, loving dog go through this awful disease as a result her surgery was moved up to the beginning of June, we don’t know how exactly we are going to pay for it as , we are down to a one income family since Covid. I am employing anyone who is an animal lover or just a kind giving soul to help us save Sage.
The surgery itself is over US$20,000 in addition we have to stay in London for three weeks one week before her surgery and two weeks after for the recovery process. Sage is hanging on and waiting for this life-saving procedure so that she can go back to the beach and do what she loves with the people she loves.
Thank you for your generosity and kindness!
