**** UPDATE***
Saga was confirmed to have Addison Disease. She is experiencing what is called an Addisonian Crisis which is the cause to her unstable condition and Bleeding in her gastrointestinal system. She will need immediate and aggressive intervention to recover and stabilize. This disease comes with lifelong treatment and she will need daily medication and injections every 25 days. She will also need to be tested regularly at her primary veterinarian to monitor her levels and fine tune her medication and injections.
Saga is our beloved family member. She had to be admitted overnight to the care of Capital Area Emergency and Specialty Animal Hospital in Concord. What we thought was a bowel obstruction has turned into something believed to be far more serious.
In order for the hospital to properly treat her current symptoms and properly diagnose her, she will be staying with them until a diagnosis is reached. She needs a complete blood count, blood chemistry panels, and urinalysis every 6 hours while placed on IV fluids, and a test to potentially rule out Addison's Disease given her abnormal levels and blood work. These tests are over a $100 each, One night at VCA has cost us $5,000. She is not out of the woods yet; alleviating some of the expenses will help immensely. Saga is only 2 years old and has her whole life ahead of her.
