Hi everyone! My name is Jamie, and this fundraiser is for my cat, Saekki. I adopted Saekki in 2020, and she's been my little buddy since then. She really means the whole world to me, and I'd do anything for her.

At a recent check-up, the vet discovered that Saekki had lost a good amount of weight, and they believed she had developed hyperthyroidism. This is treatable with medications, so we started her on those and hoped that they would ease her symptoms in a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, the medications did not help, and Saekki gradually stopped eating completely. Since she wasn't able to eat, the local vet took ultrasounds and found grave issues with Saekki's digestive system. She urged us to go to the emergency vet and warned that Saekki would probably need surgery.

The emergency vet immediately took Saekki in, and they performed a very risky surgery to remove her gallbladder and take other tissue samples in order to find out what was causing her symptoms. This surgery was very dangerous and specialized, so it ended up being very expensive along with her emergency care. Thankfully, Saekki made it through the surgery and several other life-saving procedures, such as feeding tube insertion and a blood transfusion. She is currently in recovery, and although we have had a couple scares since she's been home, I'm hopeful that she will get better in time! She has finally started eating normally again and is getting back to her usual antics. :)

I am so grateful that she was able to make it through, and I'm very fortunate that I was able to take out a loan to pay for her care. However, as I said, all of this has been pretty financially devastating along with the constant stress of worrying about her. I hate asking anyone for help, but I really need to reach out for it this time. It's unlikely that I'll be able to raise enough to cover her medical costs completely, as it's much more than I've even set as the goal for this fundraiser, but I would be so thankful for any small bit of help.
