Help Sadie Walk Again: Support Her Surgery

Donation protected
Update: Sadie's surgery is scheduled for Thursday July 17 at Noon. Please keep her and myself in your prayers. I will drop her off Thursday morning, surgery at noon, pick up Friday morning for 12 week recovery.

A little history of how we got to this point:
We suspected our sweet girl had been traumatized before our family rescued her due to her response to any male she encountered in the beginning. Unfortunately, Sadie, of course, has not been able to tell us her complete story.

Jess & I drove 2 hours to Georgetown when we saw this sweet baby needed help with a new home. We quickly discovered she was covered in fleas, and the vet confirmed every worm possible invaded our girl, but after a little TLC and medication on board, she did well.

A few months later, we thought she had injured her leg and took her to the emergency clinic in Charleston, adding some medication in hopes that things would heal.

Fast forward to a few more clinic visits, adding Adequan injections twice a week and pairing with by-mouth Galliaprant, she has been somewhat manageable and comfortable. However, for the past few months, we have had to assist Sadie, sometimes lifting her hind end and using a ramp to get up small steps into the house. She pushes herself to go outside to use the restroom, sitting her hind leg off to the side (as seen in the attached photo) to compensate. Dogs are like kiddos, they are resilient and will push past uncomfortable things that the average adult would grimace at. We have discussed the cause of this over time, and her primary vet agreed that trauma had more than likely occurred during the early months of life, which we suspected due to her behavior in the beginning.

Surgeon consult: We checked with several clinics; that priced the required surgery at 8-10k for TTA (Tibial Tuberosity Advancement) After researching, we found a clinic willing to do this surgery for $1900-$2100. A wonderful man who adores country vet care living and helping those who love their fur babies. He is no-nonsense and straight to the point, explaining he would not do the surgery if he did not feel it would help her walk again. He has just completed this same surgery on his fur baby. Recovery time is 12 weeks in her kennel, which she loves, thank goodness, and a leash to potty outside. She will eventually need the right leg done, but the left leg seems to be causing her more pain than the other at this point. He also confirmed our suspicions that his opinion of Sadie’s diagnosis is of a previous injury in her early months of life. We will never know whether it resulted from the owner kicking or hitting her. What we do know is her legs appear with previous breaks fused back together, which has caused arthritis to set in. This is causing the decrease in mobility and use of the leg now.

It is difficult for me to post this huge ask, but Sadie has given me so much love and support through my trials. I have to atleast try to give her a 2nd chance after beginning life in such a rough manner. Unfortunately, I had a large amount of major dental work that has filled up my care credit card. Additionally, I had retinal detachment eye surgery May 29th, and this has caused a financial burden.

However, if you know me, you know I love photography and, in the past, have done many family photo shoots. If there is something that I can do in return for your support (even if you need help in other ways – um within reason ), please reach out to me, and we can work something out.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for supporting our sweet girl, but more than anything, please pray for her complete recovery. It truly means more than I could ever explain.
