Help Sadie Overcome her Giant Cell Tumor

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Diana Canales, and I am reaching out on behalf of my daughter, Sadie Rodriguez. Since October, Sadie has been battling an unexpected and heartbreaking health challenge that has completely disrupted her life. What started as what she thought was a muscle sprain in her right knee quickly escalated into something far more serious.

By December, the pain and limited mobility in her knee were worsening, and after a visit to urgent care and an MRI, doctors discovered a large lesion on her right distal femur. The news was devastating — this lesion could potentially be cancerous. On January 17th, just as we were starting to process this possibility, Sadie fell and fractured her femur on the same leg, further complicating her situation. With her leg too weak to bear weight, Sadie has been relying on a walker and wheelchair to get around ever since.

Despite all of these challenges, Sadie has remained incredibly strong, and we’re so grateful for the support she has received. She had a bone biopsy on February 13th, but unfortunately, the procedure caused additional trauma as the needle hit a nerve. After months of waiting and uncertainty, we finally got the answers on March 6th: the tumor is non-cancerous, diagnosed as a giant cell tumor. Praise God!

Though this news was a relief, it comes with its own set of challenges. The tumor has damaged much of Sadie’s femur, and she will need surgery to remove the tumor, fill her femur with bone cement, and secure the bone with a metal plate. Her surgery is scheduled for April 9th, and following that, she will face at least 3 months of intense physical therapy to regain strength and mobility in her leg.

Unfortunately, the financial burden of Sadie’s medical care has been overwhelming. Sadie has been unable to work since January 17th because both of her jobs involve being on her feet with children. Although she recently gained insurance, she still faces high medical expenses, including a $1,495 deductible that she needs to cover before her surgery. She is doing her best to continue running her small business, Howdy Hey Sweets, but the combination of medical bills and living expenses has been incredibly difficult.

We are hoping to raise $3,000 to help cover Sadie’s medical bills, her insurance deductible, and some of her living expenses as she recovers. Every contribution, no matter how small, will help ease the financial burden and allow Sadie to focus on healing and getting back to her normal life.

Sadie is an incredibly strong person who has been through so much, and with your support, we believe she will get through this and come out even stronger. We appreciate any help you can offer during this difficult time. Thank you so much for your generosity and for keeping Sadie in your thoughts and prayers during this time.

With heartfelt gratitude, Diana Canales
